I am a designer based in London. I work closely with clients and customers to identify and solve design problems, conveying messages in a visual way that inspires or amuses or just makes life easier. Or all of those things. There is an undeniable beginning, middle and end to this process and the solutions are stories of sorts.
It is a dream to make picture books. Crafting a story to convey a profound message in an interesting way which engages and resonates with young (and old!) readers. Using any means available to create artwork, though typically water based and acrylic inks, watercolour and pencil, and then composing images digitally. I find this gives me the flexibility to allow the composition to adapt to the storytelling.
I studied illustration, animation, anatomy and printmaking at Putney School of Art and Central Saint Martins. Exhibiting and selling drawings and etchings at rowing regattas and equestrian events, and online at www.elongridge.com.
I have just bought a small wooden yacht to take me to the edge of the world.
